What is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are actual paid jobs that are a real alternative to traditional academic and study.
You’ll will gain skills in your chosen career working with experienced professionals and study towards an industry recognised qualification.
Apprenticeships start from level 2, the equivalent of a GCSE, and go up level 7 for postgraduate training. Level 3 is the equivalent of A Levels.
Our apprenticeships
Mechanical and operations engineering technician (level 3)
- Choose either a mechanical or engineering pathway.
- Gain skills: operating and maintenance of plant equipment, operational practices and procedures, understanding technical specifications, health and safety standards and regulations.
Material processing plant operator (level 2)
- Gain skills: operating and maintaining plant equipment and vehicles including excavators and dumper trucks, operational practices and procedures, health and safety standards and regulations.
Road surfacing operative (level 2) - Gain skills: highways planning, laying road surfaces, operating an asphalt plant, using power tools, reading technical drawings and specifications, health and safety standards and regulations.

Laboratory technician (level 3)
- Gain skills: performing laboratory experiments and tests, using technical instruments and equipment, presenting statistics and evaluation, health and safety standards and regulations.

Our apprenticeships lead to many careers including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, production co-ordinators, quarry operatives, plant operatives, road surfacing operatives and laboratory technicians.
